ABOUT US
My Prep School, formally known as Mandarin Gardens Kindergarten, is an integrated Montessori preschool providing warm and cosy learning environment to children under the guidance of Montessori trained teachers.
The school encourages children to explore their worlds within a structured but creative framework. Montessori classrooms are designed to allow children the freedom to explore and indulge their natural desire to work and learn. We invite our children to manipulate, explore and cultivate their individual initiative, curiosity and motivation that make learning more enjoyable.
Through their own independent work, children develop concentration and persistence through self-motivation and self-discipline. Children are at their happiest when they are busily involved in processes. As a result, children are interested in and they are the ones that end up making them feel good about themselves and their abilities.

Our Programme
Language
The oral language is spoken, heard and then disappears. The written language is here forever. There are many stages in the teaching of writing but in the end, the child will not only learn to write, but he will be on his way to reading. With what the child has learned from his Oral Language lessons and these new two tools, the child will have almost fulfilled the entirety of being fluent in his home language.
Chinese
Our focus is to provide the students with the desire and ability to learn the Chinese language and culture, along with the academics and social interactive skills necessary for maintaining healthy, productive lives. Children learn Chinese in a variety of ways such as through songs, calligraphy, hands-on material, cookery as well as worksheets.
Math
Mathematics deals with shape, space, numbers, and their relationships and attributes by the use of numbers and symbols. It is a study of the science of pattern and includes patterns of all kinds, such as numerical patterns, abstract patterns, patterns of shape and motion. More precisely, the concepts covered in the Primary class are numeration, the decimal system, computation, the mathematics tables, whole numbers, fractions and positive numbers.
Sensorial
The child, to Montessori, is a “sensorial explorer”. Through work with the sensorial materials, the child is given the keys to classifying the things around him, which leads to the child making his own experiences in his environment. Through the classification, the child is also offered the first steps in organising his intelligence, which then leads to his adapting to his environment.

Practical Life
The purpose and aim of Practical Life is to help the child gain control in the coordination of his movement, and help the child to gain independence and adapt to his society. Practical Life Exercises also aid the growth and development of the child’s intellect and concentration and will in turn also help the child develop an orderly way of thinking.
